Learning at Carlsbad’s Pacific Ridge School is based on discussion and active student engagement. In a typical classroom, 15 students sit with their teacher around an oval table, called a Harkness table, actively exploring ideas and opening their minds to different perspectives. Guided by caring and experienced educators, students in grades 6-12 develop confidence in approaching any new idea or discipline.
Middle School students in grades 6-8 get comfortable with themselves, take risks, develop their voice, and build critical academic and social-emotional skills needed for high school and beyond. Students in grades 9-12 can pursue the breadth and depth of their interests, make their voices heard, and actively practice leadership.
