Zoomars Petting Zoo is just a short drive from North County. It's approximately 37 miles by car from Carlsbad. For added adventure take Amtrak with your lil' train enthusiast to San Juan train station just steps away from the entrance.
This sweet family friendly zoo is geared towards preschoolers but all ages are sure to have fun. The zoo is a special home to pigs, ponies, goats, llamas, bunnies, sheep and the famous 100 guinea pigs! So famous that their guinea pig Gillie now has his own book, The Tale of Guinea Pig authored by the zoo’s owner Carolyn Franks. (It's a really cute story- my kids LOVE it)
There are also other activities besides feeding and petting the sweet animals. There is small train ride, a mining stand, pony rides and a playground. For little ones, the show stopper is the the corn kernel play area. The smaller kids are able to take off their shoes and jump in the tactile, sensory filled space and play with toys that are provided.
For the past 30 years Zoomars zoo has charmed more than three million visitors.

Similar to a ball pit or sand box area but BETTER is Zoomar's play area filled with corn kernels!
