Near the entrance of San Diego Bay, there is a tour boat that is truly crazy. It’s called the Patriot Jet Boat and it has loads of horsepower which makes it go very fast. For being the size that it is, it can carry way more people than anyone thinks. Also, the boat can do amazing spins that would jerk you out of your seat if it wasn’t for the seatbelt. Since all the attributes listed live on this boat, it is probably one of the best boats in San Diego bay.
At first I knew that it was was a beast because you have to wear seatbelts, that’s how hard it jerks you. The boat also has a length of almost 70 feet and twin 1400 horsepower engines. The power from the engines make it able to haul more than one hundred people at 50 miles per hour! When my friend, some of my family, and I went on the Patriot Jet Boat we had a blast! The first thing that I noticed was that the boat was longer than I expected it to be. Then, when I got onto the boat, the rock and roll music was like being at a concert. Once we started moving, the whole area where the boat had just been was full of frothing whitewater. After that, the music was interrupted by the driver’s voice saying that the boat was capable of speeds up to 50 mph. After we started moving, the driver would turn the boat making one of the jets go out of the water. When we would go down, I would look back and see a big 40 foot wall of water behind us! This happens because the jets goes out of the water, still shooting out tons of air and when it his the water, all of it that is in the way of the jet gets thrown up into the air.
Another cool maneuver that the Jet Boat did was spin around in a circle. The driver would do this by going as fast as he could, making a very sharp turn, go backwards and turn the other way. Sometimes this would create a big wall of water that would fall on us. Also, the tour boat went from the entrance of the bay, under the Coronado bridge (I thought we were going to hit one of the pilings that holds up the bridge) to just about where the car carriers are. One time the captain of the ship made a rapid turn without warning so I looked to the side and about four feet off the boat I saw a big red buoy with a seagull and a sea lion sitting on it and the next thing I knew I was watching the buoy rock so far to the side that the top of it almost touched the water. Lastly, the thing that felt the best, on that hot summer day, was getting drenched when the driver slowed down a ton while going full speed. In the end, the Patriot Jet Boat was definitely one of my most memorable moments in San Diego bay.
The Jet Boat was a great addition to my day down in San Diego and it could be the best thing about your visit to the city as well. With all of the horsepower, it was probably one of the fastest boats I’ve ever been on. Also, it was the biggest speedboat that I’ve been on. To haul that many people made me really feel the power of those engines. All in all, the jet boat was definitely a life long memory. Next time will you come with me?
