San Diego Based Business Owner Raises Funds for Haitian Orphanage

March 30, 2019

As part of their commitment to service, local organization Neisha's Dance & Music Academy is currently fundraising for an upcoming mission trip to Le phare Orphanage, in Port au Prince, Haiti. In May, Neisha’s will be sending one of their dance instructors over 2,900 miles to meet directly with a teacher from the orphanage to build a relationship between the two schools.

The Chula Vista-based dance company, which also has a studio located in Liberty Station, currently pays for one teacher’s monthly expenses at La phare Orphanage, and studio owner Neisha Hernandez hopes that through further relationships building they will be able to find other ways to support.

“Neisha’s Dance and Music Academy has partnered with La phare Orphanage through Taking Shape, an organization offering opportunities in charitable giving, leadership core values and lifetime experiences,” says Neisha. “Since serving is part of our studio's core values, it’s great to really build and develop this relationship.”

Funds are being raised through raffle ticket sales, which can be purchased at the Chula Vista studio - 870 Jetty Lane, 91914. The studio is open 2:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Friday and 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Raffle prizes include three international-themed gift baskets, a food gift basket, travel basket and education-themed basket
