Escape the Beach and Head to the Mountains

Big Bear, California

November 2, 2019

As a young girl growing up in New England, Fall was a special time for my family.  Each fall, typically in October, we would take a ride up Route 95 North to see the Fall leaves as they changed colors.  We would typically stay in a lake side town.  I can remember my mom with her thick Boston accent gazing and commenting at the leaves as she just saw them for the first time.  Errrikahhhh, look at the awwwrange!!

When I had the opportunity to Visit Big Bear with my youngest son, I had no idea how similar that the experience would be to my childhood memories.

Driving up the winding road, seeing the beautiful cascading trees as you climb the mountain.  As you climb higher and higher, the views of the city start to fade.  The mountains and hills set on the gorgeous blue sky is breathtaking.  The trees are taller than the sky and the road feelslike ts taking you to a new world!

The Club at Big Bear Village is set in the heart of Downtown Big Bear.  The downtown is quaint, adorned with local eateries and shops.  The setting is iconic and feels like something out of movie.  Fall is a beautiful time to visit because almost every tree leaves are changing.  The vibrant colors are incredible.  The accommodations at The Club at Big Bear are like being Home, if not better. The staff treat you like old friends coming back to visit.

Our Accommodations were a pleasant surprise!.  Upon arrival, we pulled in our garage. Yes garage!  We unpacked our suitcases and toured our amazing 3 bedroom.  The kitchen was something out of a HGTV show.  Our accommodations were so cozy for our family of 5.  We were so impressed, we made a video to show you!

There are many activities at The Club at Big Bear Village.  There’s something for the whole family.  The kids can hang out in the Teen Room, Kids area or pool.  Onsite they also have a Fitness center and a library. There’s plenty of places to sit and relax.

There’s plenty of activities to keep the kids too!  We had the pleasure of checking out Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain and Gold Rush Mining Adventures.  Both are located within 10 minutes of The Club at Big Bear by car.  The best thing is that no matter what season, families can visit these destinations!  Did you know that there is the only one in California?  There are also a variety of attractions at the recreation area, which include year round operations of the go-karts and an 18 hole miniature golf course and home to the Soaring Eagle!

Your whole family can head over to Gold Rush Mining Adventures where they can pan for like a real miner.  Kids love the idea of treasures and this destination has the opportunity for your curious kids to explore!  From discovering dinosaurs fossils to panning for gems, everyone in the family can pick their adventure!

All of the restaurants and shops are within walking distance to the The Club at Big Bear.  Our favorite local restaurants included the Oakside, Saucy Mama’s and El Jacalito.  With so many options to choose from, whatever your families craving, you won’t be disappointed!

We had a wonderful stay at The Club at Big Bear and will be returning soon for sure.  Seeing the Big Bear Foliage, going down an Alpine Slide with my kiddo and eating delicious food.  Our weekend getaway to Big Bear was the perfect Fall retreat from Beach life.
