The holidays are a time for giving!
We’ve partnered with Volunteers of America to help support our local community and give back to those in need. Join us in spreading holiday cheer by donating new coats, hats, scarves, and gloves from November 20 – December 11.
Despite its reputation for sunny skies year-round, San Diego does actually get quite cold and damp in the winter and there are thousands of residents in need of essential cold weather gear.
To provided much-needed coats, hats and more, The Shoppes at Carlsbad has partnered with Volunteers of America to help celebrate the season of giving. Through the "Warm for the Winter" Coat Drive, the mall will be collecting new and gently used coats for neighbors in need.
From November 20 through December 11, shoppers can donate coats, gloves, hats, scarves and any other warm clothing at donation bins located throughout The Shoppes at Carlsbad during regular mall hours. Mall owners Brookfield Properties will collect the donations and provide them Volunteers of America for distribution throughout the community; this local effort is part of a nationwide donation drive with Volunteers of America.
“As one of the largest mall operators in the U.S., this partnership with Brookfield Properties is a natural fit for us,” said Mike King, CEO of Volunteers of America. “Our goal is to collect as many donations in as many communities as possible and we are able to maximize those efforts through their shopping centers across the country. We look forward to working with them in the coming weeks and look forward to the opportunity to give back to American families this holiday season.”
