Here's where you can find amazing firework shows in San Diego County this year

By Sydney Bondarenko July 10, 2024

Looking for places places to see fireworks with your family this Independence Day 2024? Look no further than this 2024 Macaroni KID Carlsbad-Encinitas-Solana Beach fireworks guide, where we will tell you the best places to see fireworks on multiple dates surrounding this fourth of July. San Diego has a great variety of events and firework shows this year.

FREE Firework Viewing Locations

1. Legoland's Red, White, and BOOM! Thursday July 4th, 8:45 pm

Legoland does have a whole day's worth of fourth of July activities, but if you're simply looking for an awesome fireworks show, look to the sky at 8:45 pm. Known as one of the best shows in San Diego county, there are many viewing locations if you are in the Carlsbad area. Publisher's recommendation: If you want to skip the crowds, don't drive to Legoland for the show. My family likes watching Legoland fireworks from nearby neighborhoods, Calavara mountain, or even from the beach. As long as it's close by or on a hill with nothing obstructing your view, you will be able to see the show.

2. Bristol Cove Condominiums by the Carlsbad Lagoon Thursday July 4th ~9:00 pm

This is a hidden gem in Carlsbad which is known mostly to locals. A neighborhood by the Carlsbad lagoon puts on a great firework show every year...though not an official event, it's always an amazing time. Publisher's recommendation: Want to get a great view of Legoland fireworks and this show? Stop by Capri Park in Carlsbad and see both shows!

3. Oceanside Fireworks Show Wednesday July 3rd, 9:00 pm

We can't always make it out on July 4th. Some of us may not even want to! If Wednesday works better for you, head over to Oceanside for their annual show. Publisher's recommendation: The event is free, but parking is not. Try taking the Sprinter to this event, as it is right by the station. There is free parking at the Ocean Ranch Business Park, which is about a 30 minute walk to the event. Similar to the Legoland show, you may be able to see these fireworks from the top of hilly nearby neighborhoods. That way, you can avoid all the crowds.

4. Fireworks show at Brengle Terrace Park Thursday July 4th, 9:00 pm

Stop by a neighborhood near Brengle Terrace Park in downtown Vista for another amazing show. They do have a full event planned with $5 admission to sit at the Moonlight Amphitheatre, but if you're just there for the fireworks, parking is free and the fireworks are amazing.

5. SeaWorld Fourth of July Fireworks Wednesday July 3rd and Thursday July 4th, 9:00 pm

Every year on July 3 - 4, SeaWorld puts on a seriously impressive musical and fireworks show at their San Diego location. The show is included with daily admission. Publisher's recommendation: Unless you want to pay to spend the whole day at SeaWorld (which is also fun but may not be your style), there is a great viewing location - Fiesta Island. Drive out there, have a beach day, and watch the amazing fireworks show over the water at night. Definitely a family favorite!

Paid Firework Viewing Locations

1. San Diego County Fair 4th of July Celebration Thursday July 4 9:00 pm

The San Diego County Fair (formerly Del Mar Fair) is one of San Diego's best summer events, and the final day is on the Fourth of July. If you are going to go one day of the year (although it will be packed!) make it this July 4th and literally stand underneath an incredible firework show. Entrance to the fair + parking is their standard fee. Publisher's recommendation: Going to the fair? Get discounted tickets at any San Diego Albertsons or Vons locations, see here.

Tips for Enjoying Independence Day

  • Arrive Early: Popular events can get crowded, so plan to arrive early to secure a good spot.
  • Bring Essentials: Pack sunscreen, water, and snacks to stay comfortable throughout the day.
  • Follow Local Guidelines: Be sure to follow any local health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe celebration for everyone.
  • Consider Ear Protection for Your Child: Fireworks can be loud and overwhelming for young children. Bring ear protection like noise-canceling headphones to ensure they enjoy the festivities without discomfort.
